I had a quick question. I am leaving the country this weekend for three weeks. Unfortunately i am not going to have any access to bike and perhaps have limited time to train. I am currently on week 16 pre-season training. I was wondering if you could help me with what kind of work out i should do in these three weeks since i don't have a bike and limited time. I don't want to come back and have trouble with my biking and heart rate. I will have access to gym and can do some lifting, swimming, and running. If you could give me some advise of what type of work out i should have, i will greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
Koosha
i got a clearwater spot at honu...wasnt the kona spot, but ok ill take it anyway. next year i can go for the resident spot...i was short 6 months.
hows the weather in clearwater? do you get to swim in a wetsuit there?
also are they any races...anykine races...between june 27-july8 nearby to home?
Thanks again for your help and support.
Here goes...
I wanted to ask your opinion on some upcoming races. So far this year I have done St. Anthonys, Eagleman, and Wyckoff. 4 weeks from today is the new Providence 70.3, and registration is still open. I am debating signing up for this race and want to know what you think. I have no other BIG races planned. 2 weeks after Providence, I have on Olympic distance. Other than that, maybe one or two sprints in August/September. I have the opportunity to qualify for Clearwater at Providence, if not, then a late season marathon.
Basically, I am concerned that 4 weeks won't be long enough for proper recovery given the 2 HARD races in the last week, and that racing another half so soon will do more harm than good.
Any input would be great! Thanks!
My daughter helped me figure out the problem with my computer.....it was the browser.....I am now using firefox instead of internet explorer,,,,,,(Thank goodness for having computer savvy kids......the problem with other browser which I used from my e-mail is that it kept putting me in as signed in automatically. I am not that computer savvy so maybe you understand what the problem was. In any case I was now able to navigate the web site and joined NJ Tri group (yea !!). Its been nice chatting with you, maybe I'll meet you one day. My friends have signed me up to do the running leg of a relay team at Brigantine Island Tri (we'll see....I think I also am ready to try to get in the water, starting with total immersion drills on my side, let you know how it goes.....I get my hard neck collar off in 1 wk and 1/2.
Thanks again for you patience
Barbara
Just to let you know, I don't receive any message when I try to join the north jersye group.
Anyway it looks like you are doing Wykoff (did it last year and had a lot of fun) Have fun tommorrow.

Last fall in cross country my best 5k was 19:50, but I'm considerably faster now - I'm guessing 18:00 - 18:30-ish. My run is my weak spot for sure. The last tri I did in May I was 11th in the swim, 16th in the bike, but 63rd in the run (24th overall out of out of 237).
I know I need to work on run speed, my endurance is pretty good. I can run forever at about a 7:50 - 7:50 pace (last 1/2 marathon was 1:43 as a 13yr old), but need to work on shorter/faster. Any tips?
I'm pretty good at cycling - I can average 23-24mph for a 20k bike leg, which is pretty competitive in the tri's around here. This is my first year racing, and I've improved hugely since I started.
thanks again for this site -
