About Me:
i'm living in hawaii now...been here for 3 years...time flies! i love my job teaching elementary school. as much as i love it here i still miss home.....but not in the winter :) i've been doing triathlons since my senior year in high school. i'm a swimmer from the start but turned to triathlon to stay in shape between seasons. i've done 3 ironmans (lake placid twice and malaysia) and 4 halfs...i cant sprint worth anything though! pink is my favorite color. i love cheesecake. when i'm not training i do what the irish do best....and thats me in a nutshell :)

out and out and now coming back

2 weeks ago i did an ocean race, 2.4 miles, 47 minutes, won my age group. felt really proud of myself. especially seeing how sick i had felt all week, the lack of training, appetite, and exhaustion that had started a week or so before. i figured eh its strep, all my students have that...must be. so i went to the doctor to get some medicine, turns out not strep, but mono! WTF! ok so the worst way to end a season is by getting mono. i've never experienced anything like it. i've seen siblings be s… Continue

Honu 1/2 IM done and done

so after a fabulous weekend i'm back home in oahu....here's my race review for the honu 1/2 IM..... swim-had a new start line so everyone was ina smaller area in the water. in the past the start has had one bouy and some people would start on the sand and run down the beach then into the water. so the swim start was a little tougher....in true IM fashion i got the shit kicked out of me hahaha it wouldn't be IM without that! the water was kinda of choppy as the wind was howling...but making the… Continue

Thanks! Are you bringing your bike? The course reminded me of Lake Placid West. It was great, but crowded. I hadn't been able to run the last 4 weeks because of an injury so i was definitely low in the confidence arena and of corse it made the run hurt. It would be great if you made it to Kona! call me in NJ - lets train.

Kona 09 is the call, girl! For Clearwater, the weather can be pretty volatile and it is always really windy that time of year. Definitely wetsuit on the swim for sure -- I remember being really cold & having lots of layers on before the race start, since it was only about 50 degrees. Didn't get too hot on the run, though, which is a good thing.
Not sure about North Jersey races in late June/early July - I asked Alyson to drop you a note if she knows of any...Aloha!

Good Morning! We had a really fun weekend down there despite a crushing heatwave. Ashlyn and I went down Friday and stayed in a very cute B&B in Oxford, MD. Then Mike came with Grayson and Spencer on Saturday. The kids loved the Hyatt and we spent most of the day on Saturday in the pools and getting burned, unfortunately! We knew Sunday was going to be a challange as the forcast was for temps in the high 90s. We think perhaps 500 people did not even start the race as there were only 1300 finishers. I went 5:10 there last year and I had wanted to improve on that. The crushing heat had me walking on and off after about 8 miles so I brought it in at 5:34. Not too bad and I had a great time. I think it will be a while before I bring a bunch of spectators to a race, though!

We should be here when you are here. We are going to Placid to spectate but that is the only time away I can think of.

Take care and see you soon!

Yo-yo-yo! It's going to be some fun, but since I'm just getting over a hip injury & focused on Kona, I'm only planning to run the first loop. Not much of a taper, either, so we're going to have fun, monitor my HR, make sure the fueling strategy still works, etc.

Kirsten is gunning for her slot - keep your fingers crossed!

Aloha-

Hey girl! I am all healed up and actually feel great. I am running in the Ridgewood race on Monday and have my eye on maybe a late season srint or Olympic...when do you visit home again?

That's the tough part of this sport, no matter how fit you are you have days where you feel like you can't move because of all the training. Days before some of my best races often felt like that! You are going to do great!

yeah traveling from there is really expensive.. alot of filipino's raced IMNZ and keep coming back, so i guess its a good race.. there's an ITU oly race this sunday here.. Half of Team TBB are starting , Chrissie W., Belinda G will be there.. so its kinda interesting to watch.. BTW took ur advice on the paddles.. I swim 50m @ 41-42 sec. with the paddles on and 45-48 sec. w/o the paddles... but i think its a little faster than that since our pool is 27m .. im still 25lbs overweight, but im happy with my progress.. so far my fastest 100m is 1:37, but i can consistenly hold it at 1:45 ... so do u think in time id be faster? given that i loose the extra weight and put in the work w/ a structured swim program?
