About Me:
Been racing Tri's since '85. Have been passionate about the sport and the excitement about racing season has never faded. Lots of training/racing challenges this year mostly resulting from infection in my spine from last fall.

I coach Tri and am the NY Regional Manager for Joe Friel's TrainingBible Coaching. I've been affiliated with Joe for about 9 years. I have my own coaching company at www.inspiredperformancecoaching.com as well.

I've been on the USAT National Board of Directors, am currently Age Group Commission Chair and Chair of the Hall of Fame Voting Committee. I've also worked on several other USAT committtees over the years.

I coach for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and have been the Head Tri Coach for Team in Training-North Jersey for about 10 years. This is a really satisfying role since I get to help bring lots of new people into the sport and at the same time play a role in stamping out Cancer- a disease that we all have been affected by. This is the most fulfilling element of what I do in the sport!

Tri provides a great lifestyle and an opportunity to meet some incredible people. How can you not get hooked on it?
Key Race for 2008:
Columbia, Westchester, National Age Group Champs, IM AZ, and another half TBD.

Moving Right Along

Can't believe it's mid-August already. It seems like yesterday that I was thinking there's tons of time until IM AZ and now with the cooler mornings and darker evenings, things are really starting to set in. I've finished making all of my travel plans for AZ. Some things I learned (that probably everyone else already knows): If you book a car rental through Hotwire, you can save a ton of cash. With Adrianna & Anthony, me, Toni & Grandma coming along, we need a minivan. Hotwire saved me a… Continue

More on the comeback trail

I've been taking a core strength class over the past few weeks to replace the PT that I had been doing to rehab my low back/spine. Well, not everything goes as planned and the core strength class turned out to be a little too aggressive and I aggravated my back. Have taken the last week off from everything and have gotten back to swimming and cycling yesterday. Strength training (of a less aggressive nature) will start today with, hopefully, a longish ride. Laid out my schedule when I heard the… Continue

Getting started for '08

So, for this year, I'm more challenged to race than ever before. The spinal infection that took over my life in September has now been defeated, but it left its damage. I'm recovering nicely and am back to a descent level of training, focusing on rebuilding the core strength that I lost from the infection and trying to get my cycling power back close to where it was last year. Still about 10-15% shy of my FTP wattage from 2007, but I started from "ground zero" and am very satisfied so far. I sti… Continue

Chuck...thanks for the words of support! Ihad a successful surgery yesterday morning and am planning on returning to work on Monday! The doctor called me crazy for going back so soon...I then told him that I had 24 kids that would act as 24 right arms for me in class...so we'll see. I hope everything is going well and I am looking forward to cheering you on right next to you babies at Wykoff this year!

Chuck, I am glad to hear that you are doing better. You definitely don't have to tell me about the weight! HAHA!!! I may be skinny for my height but 185 is still 185. Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing you out on the raods with our impending sprind weather on the horizon. I just got back from an awesome bike on the good ol' Wyckoff Tri course! I will have to give you a call soon Chuck!
