My first race report ever (really)

So after nine months of thinking about it, I did the NJ 1/2 Marathon down in Long Branch last weekend. I usually key on The Ridgewood Run as my race kick-off but since I am crazily signed up for two 1/2 IMs this summer, I thought this one would be better. I had a couple things working against me, the most substantial of which was spending the day before the race in a car travelling to Villanova or standing outside on a windy, cold, mostly cloudy day watching Ashlyn pole vault in the Big East me… Continue

Why not use your real name for your OpenTri profile?

I am curious why so many people use only his/her first name or a "code" name for Opentri? I think the value of the network is in people getting to know each other. I guess I don't understand the privacy issue as most everything I see here looks to be for anyone and everyone's viewing. I wish more people would just use his name.

hihi...the heat is killer!!! drives me nuts the heat....5:34 is still an awesome time though! how was the swim? i remember it being really choppy last time i did it. 2 days til i ship off this island down to florida and then home to NJ....can't wait to be home...even if its only for a week....

I caught the Clearwater spot via rolldown which sort of offset the bad luck I had in St Croix, where a flat cost me that slot. Karma?

I'm also doing Timberman, but right after IMLP, I have no idea what to expect. I thought Mike already had Clearwater from last year?

Hi Alyson. I would have loved to have seen your parents. Joe Barger told me that Mike was a pro and so I googled him and discovered that he started open tri. I do remember from way back that you guys were doing triathlons. Jeff says hello. He lives in Exeter, NH-they have two beautiful little girls from China and he has become quite a surfer. You have a beautiful family-saw the photos on Mike's home page-and watched the video of your daughter pole vaulting-holy cow that was awesome! We are staying at the morningstar condos on mirror lake-Wed. to Wed. so I'll see you in Lake Placid! joanna
