I'm from Ottawa and I think we crossed path in training. I registered for Ironman Brazil 09 and I was told while biking with a group last week-end that you may have done the race! If it's the case, I would be very interested in you input and comments about Brazil (course, travel, accommodation etc.).

At 12:00am on January 22, 2008, Karen Finnerty said…: hey thanks for that...just checked out your blog...it looks like its gonna be a rough day! ive been doing a lot of mid day biking and running out here in hawaii with the intense sun, so hopefully that will help out. i arrive in langkawi the tues before...ive got a 19 hr layover in taipei :( did they really run out of water? i dont even know how to plan for that!
also, what is the bike course like...flat? hills? how about the run? ive gotten used to ocean swimming as i do it almost every weekend...have swam through 6ft swells...but jellyfish are not my thing..
you mentioned the 1 guy with bike mechanic stuff....can he put my bike together when i arrive or should i plan on doign it myself? i can do it, just makes me nervous right before a race!
