I fixed my flat!!!

I'm not usually so excited about getting a flat, but since I was riding alone I had no choice but to try to fix it myself. Of course, it was the rear wheel. Great. I think the tube was defective since there was a half-inch gash but nothing in the tire (and three of the four tubes I bought were all defective...guess I'm lucky it lasted this long!!) First I called a friend to talk me through it...I've watched enough times, but wasn't sure I could do it myself. He insisted that without a tire iron… Continue

I was weaving at mile 21 so I was escorted into an ambulance. They said I was too cold to continue. My temp was 92 . So they took me back to the tent and warmed me up for an hour or so and let me go.
It was a very hard thing so I really want to finish this year.

Hi- i'm at work browsing and saw you under the IMLP-ers. Are you doing it again this year? I got pulled into an ambulance at mile 21 on the run so I HAVE to go back this year. happy training!

Amy, I got your emai. That does sound like your season ended well. As far as clearwater. I remember that when I did it the drafting was insane! It really made me angy...the bike is my strong point...and drafting made it a bummer because it made the elite cyclists average and the runners even better because they had fresher legs! I remember riding at 28 MPH on a flat and looking over my shoulder and seeing a huge pack of guys that ran me down like I was riding 10 MPH. Sucked! Anyway, as long as we take it as a learning experience then we are all good.

I will reply to your email soon!

Hey Amy,Lake Placid WAS epic! The rain presented it's challenges but I wouldn't give thath day back ever! Like Dev Paul Wrote 'If you can race an IM in those conditions, than you can handle anything. Idaho is next, but how can you say no to good 'ol LP? Thanks for the reminder, and YES you will see me there!

Amy,

Also, sorry about your stay in the Med Tent. I was there, in Louisville last year, my one and only time. I didn't like it much but it does aid in recovery, I'm convinced. I had my Personal Best Olympic 6 days after KY...ha!

Amy,

Agreed! I didn't sign up for LP 09 merely because the logistics of the race are challenging given my geography. I'm left with a mix of pride having completed the race on such a difficult day with and feeling a bit cheated out of the more typical LP race day experience.

My swim was 1:10. I made a decision about the bike early, I erred on the side of safety ALL day. The potholes full of water, my inability to pre-ride the course, the danger of falling all combining to formulate that 'strategy'. My bike split is almost embarassing, to be honest. I did rally on the run, taking many, many endurolytes and coke.

I won't ever forget 7.20.08. Heading to WI, hopefully, in 2009.

Yours,

Tiger

Amy,

I think I saw you on the LP beach on Thursday but not certain. Wondering how your race unfolded and wanted to see how you compare / contrast the LP bike course to that of IMC...

Yours,

Tiger

Hey Amy...great job. I am looking towards LP 09 also. Should be pretty cool. I am also looking into racing IM AZ 09 also. We'll see how that goes...as far as registration and everything. ANyway, great job in LP the conditions were definitely brutal. But they were such that your next IM LP will probably be in better weather...and you'll feel like its an even easier race because of it. Great Job!

Hi Amy. What a small world. I saw that you left a message for Allyson Llerandi. I grew up in the same town as Allyson and dated her brother Thomas for 2 years during high school. I actually went to Mike and Allyson's wedding and reconnected with them after Eagleman this year! I would love to hook up sometime and ride. Yes, the weather is still miserable. We are headed back to Manlius today. jo
