This week was a little anti-climactic. I was hoping to have one last week of hard training before Wilkes Barre, my first Olympic distance race of the season, but I am still struggling with a few nagging injuries. Between some serious calf issues tha…

Congrats to everybody that did the Wyckoff race. As usual, there was some stiff competition out there. The weather was kind to us on Saturday and we had a great morning to race. My goal for the race was to crack the top 30 so I could race with the…

I took the old Bianchi out to my in-laws so I won't have to cart a bike back and forth. It's a lugged steel Columbus TSX/UL frame and while it rides nicely, it weights a ton! Pulling it up and down the hills of northeast PA was a challenge. Overall…

I wanted to PR the 10K at Ridgewood pretty badly so I had a pretty easy week of training. After a pretty tough previous weekend I did a few short workouts with a few high-intensity intervals thrown in. I ended up running a 43:05, beating my previous…

Week of July 20-26

This week was a little anti-climactic. I was hoping to have one last week of hard training before Wilkes Barre, my first Olympic distance race of the season, but I am still struggling with a few nagging injuries. Between some serious calf issues that have been holding me back all season and the shoulder issues that have flared up recently, I ended up missing my swim workouts and cutting a run workout short.

Overall, I still feel… Continue

Randolph Triathlon!

I raced the Randolph Triathlon this weekend, and as usual, the event was terrific. Paramount Adventure does a really nice job setting it up and getting everything organized. The course is great and while there's some stiff competition, it still feels like the local race that it is.

I had a great race and felt strong the whole way through. The swim course is a big clockwise rectangle in Randolph Lake. I matched my time from last year and felt good getting out of the water.

The bike course isn't… Continue

Week of June 15-21 (WYCKOFF!!!)

Congrats to everybody that did the Wyckoff race. As usual, there was some stiff competition out there.

The weather was kind to us on Saturday and we had a great morning to race. My goal for the race was to crack the top 30 so I could race with the elites next year. I had a strong swim, I got a little faster on the bike, and dropped a full two minutes off my run from two years ago. I finished in 1:37:18, which was good enough for 19th overall and 5th in my age group. I was very pleased with my r… Continue

Week of June 1-7

I took the old Bianchi out to my in-laws so I won't have to cart a bike back and forth. It's a lugged steel Columbus TSX/UL frame and while it rides nicely, it weights a ton! Pulling it up and down the hills of northeast PA was a challenge.

Overall, it was a good week of training. Wyckoff is less than 2 weeks from today and I'm feeling good! Check out my week in detail here.

Week of May 25-31

While I was pleased with my 10K from last week, it took me the better part of this week for my legs to feel right. I wasn't even walking normally until Wednesday afternoon. The first part of this week was spent recovering on the bike and getting a few quality swims under my belt. By Saturday I was feeling better and managed to get a 43 mile ride and a quick 1.5 mile run in.

If you're interested in seeing the weekly details, please visit my regular training… Continue
