Meant to discuss some different ways to approach the fourth sport in triathlon - strength training. With many different ways and approaches being suggest "out there", how is one to make sense of it all? Hopefully this forum will help.

The youngest member of the Llerandi gene pool. Previously a national-class swimmer and world-class pro triathlete, I now race for the Feedback Sports cycling team. I've enjoyed coaching endurance athletes of all walks of life and ability levels since 1990.
On the personal side, married to Lori (my better half, seriously) for over 14 years and have 2 awesome kids - Alexis and Noah.
Key Race for 2009:

Nate,
Another question. I have the choice of going to LP for a long ride on June 6th or June 20th. It's a bit of car ride, so I'd like to make it worthwhile and do 2 loops.
I want to avoid going riding this long on a recovery week. Are you able to peek ahead in the schedule and tell me whether either of these falls on a recovery week's Saturday? Other than that, I can't think of a reason why one weekend would be better than the other. Can you?
Quick question: There will be several weekends during which Sunday is the only weekend day that I can do a long ride. I usually know well in advance, so there’s pently of opportunity to adjust workouts. Is it OK to simply move the long run to Saturday, or is there some other way I should adjust the schedule to accommodate riding long on Sunday?
I reply'd to you comments and thanks. I didn't realize you were from CO. I love it out there. We(my in-laws) have a place in Breck that we visit a couple times a year to ski.
Hey Scott! Welcome back to the wonderful world of racing. Glad things have settled down enough for you so you can re-focus and get back out there. Yep, those 300 workouts are killer, but they do get easier (in some respects). Enjoy!
Nate, I am back from a long "no racing" hiatus. I have to say those 300 workouts are going to kill me. Looking forward to the trianinig challenges ahead. Thanks for the forum! You and Mike have done a nice job.
Nate ... we haven't met yet; but, that's certain to happen sometime. As a dedicated historian & fan of the sport, I watched you race often "back in the day," and have several videos of you racing. We would love to have you race a 5430 event sometime - even just for fun. In the meantime, good luck with your coaching - have a wonderful holiday season with the family - and here's to an awesome 2008!
