About Me:
I am a dental surgeon, father of three teenagers and also a univeristy lecturer. I did my first half ironman/middle distance triathlon in September 2008 in 5hrs 42mins. I enjoyed it so much and worked hard to get there that now I want to step up to IronMan level. Just looking for advice and tips really..with the winter approaching how to build a base ready for the spring, that kind of thing.
Key Race for 2010:
An iron Man

Hi Michael

My name is Wayne Clark, I am a keen UK based Triathlete from the Leeds. I hope you don’t mind me messaging you as I am attempting to raise the profile of us Brits on the opentri.com website as well as the overall content of the website better!

To date I have not found a website that REALLY helps all areas of my triathlon life, that focuses on both UK and worldwide multi-sport issues in an easy, accessible and interactive manner. Or a website that holds an extensive amount of information, rather than having to use several to satisfy all my questions, kit, events and forums. Or one that allow triathletes live access to a worldwide and ‘real’ active community where we can ALL share our experiences with one another and develop our national & world wide friend networks.

Hopefully all this is about to change?

I feel strongly that the websites topic coverage is still very much limited and focused at the U.S and foreign (me thinks the websites country of origin) parts of the round ball we call ‘the world’. I am therefore about to embark on a marketing frenzy to promote the UK’s fantastic Triathlon community, racing scene and general talk & advice. WE SHOULD BE PROMOTING TO THE WORLD HOW GOOD THE UK IS TO RACE IN (minus the sun & add the cold = tough racing = a Challenge, and we all like one of those).

I believe that as our countries representatives/website membership increases, so will the relative information & discussions around things that matter and affect our training, racing and general everyday triathlon lifestyle.

I hope you will help us pioneer the Brits across the globe and make as many contacts worldwide as possible.

For more information, please go OPEN TRI UK GROUP to join group, create discussion or create a focussed UK group of your own.

Many thanks for you help. Let’s make The British Triathlon Scene the biggest and most informative and most group/s going!!!!

Kind Regards

Wayne ;@)

P.S Watch this space in Tri220 magazine for a future mention?!?

Future discussion focus: - Is Second hand Tri Gear any Good: Where can competing beginners purchase great kit that’s not at wallet breaking prices???
