This will be my 4th IM, all of them at LP. '06, '07, '08 and now '09. Although my plan isn't the Open Tri plan per se, I've been using Nate as a personal coach for all of them. So the overall approach is similar. I live in Bloomingdale and ride al…

Mighty Hamptons

So I raced last weekend again. An Oly in Sag Harbor. Just a training race on my build back to Clearwater. So I posted a 65 mile ride on saturday followed by an hour run. More about the ride later...

The race was now the 4th of the year for me in the rain. I must say, I've gotten quite used to it at this point. I was lucky that my rack wasn't in the middle of a huge 2 inch puddle, like some of the others.

The swim seemed extra slow, even for me. Don't know if it was current or the fact that sig… Continue

Timberman

So I raced Timberman in Gilford, NH this past weekend. They ran a sprint on Saturday (8/16) and a HIM on Sun (8/17), part of the 70.3 series.

This was only 4 weeks out from IMLP, so I had downward adjusted my expectations. I read something recently from Gale Bernhardt that estimated 3-5 recovery days for each hour of triathlon racing. So a month out from IMLP put me on the recovery bubble really. I already had a Clearwater spot, so this was really a bit of test of how quick I can recover.

The… Continue

IMLP 2008

I salute all those that raced in the memorable conditions of IMLP 2008. One for the scrap book for sure. The weather worked way better for me than EM, take rain & "cold" over humid heat any day. Heard lots of guys say that. Times at the top of my AG also showed it.

I had a slightly disappointing swim time and missed my goal time by a few minutes. It was hard to stay on the few pairs of happy feet I found since they kept tracking off to the left and right, dragging me into traffic. I was rig… Continue

EM was bruttal

Wholly crap it was hot at EM. The benefit of relatively calm wind day for the bike was way offset by heat & humidity. It seemed to me that wind conditions & a course that should have translated into a bike PR some how got overwritten by a hot & nasty day. And it only got worse once out of T2. There are tons of trees along much of the course, they just provide exactly 0 shade when the sun is directly overhead. Ice down the jersey just wasn't doing it either. But even after a disappoin… Continue

Aaron- Bees have been a constant in my training. Got stung right on top of my head during an Xterra two years ago. Stung probably once a season on average. The WORST is when I actually inhaled a bee during an interval in Franklin Lakes. He stung me inside my throat, right by the Adams' Apple! I wound up in the hospital, with the doc fishing a camera up my nostril and down my throat to scope him out and extricate the little bugger (pun intended). That one really hurt!

Watch out for them suckers!!

Hey Aaron...nice work in LP. I will be just racing some short stuff...sprints and such for this year. Next year though will be Eagleman, IM LP, and possibly IM Cozumel or IM AZ. Then of course the usual sprints. You?

You PR by sooo much! What month, in the past year did you know you were going to go faster?

Thanks... I don't know about the future, I think I'm just starting to figure out this triathlon thing. Kind of inspiring and intimidating.

Hey Aaron: Must be a firewall issue. I've sent you the response to your recap 3 times now - twice from Gmail and once from work. No luck, huh? Let me know where else I can send my response to you.

Aaron,

Thanks buddy! Yeah I went to Dr. Cox out of St. Joes for the surgery. He did an awesome job. That's one of the nice things about living in the area we do...lots of people at the top of their craft! Anyway...I am home recovering and will be heading back to work on Monday! Definitely see you around this summer and hopefully sooner than later!

Hi Aaron:

This is probably not the best place to talk about work but I read your comment for Dan about his surgery and you mentioned you work for Stryker. I am a biomedical engineer and work at Brown medical school as a research engineer. I am looking for a new job around New York city so I can live with wife (she is a teacher in NYC). I was wondering if you know somebody at stryker that can look over my resume or you would be kind enough look at my resume and let me know what you think.
I really appreciate your time and sorry again for using this website to talk about job.

Thanks again

Koosha
