Last time I used this plan I was working 8 hr shifts at the hosp 5 days a week. Now I only work 3 days a week, but 12 hour shifts. I'm wondering if anyone has ideas on how to make the two work. What I've thought of so far is since I can make my own schedule and get it approved most of the time, I can schedule myself on the days that require the least amt of training time wise. The other idea is to take the workouts from the days that I work and disperse them equally to the other days.

The other issue is that every employee has to work every other weekend, which will make scheduling a little tricky.

Mike - Hopefully you've encountered this before and can suggest a compromise.

All suggestions welcome!

Thanks,

Toni

Hi Toni,

I would say that your biggest issue is going to be adequate recovery, rather than sufficient work -- 12-hour shits are much more than 50% longer than 8-hour shifts (right?)...so I would definitely put your focus on making sure that you have adequate rest periods to avoid getting run down, and only then try to gradually increase the work load. No cause for panic, plenty of time to ramp it up -- I would just be sure to have adequate recovery periods before I would look to pile on the work.

Make sense?

Have fun!
Mike
