Hey Guys,

Getting a head start on an early June A race for next year, and I'm in my second week of the ID plan. Looking ahead, I've tried figuring out swim "times" to shoot for in the coming weeks and don't quite understand the swimming HR %'s. I swam in HS and college and haven't used HR's as described, I've tried finding a swimming table based off of a T1000 -- but can only find appropriate 100y times, when the distance is extended the times get a little ridiculous (300 at 3:00, 20 sec rest??). Does anyone have a link out there for me, or am I stuck taking HR's througout my swim intervals.

Thanks in Advance

PS My t1000 table came from Training Bible

Hi Robert,

Since you're an experienced swimmer, what I would do is pick a reasonable interval per 100 yards, and apply that across all the freestyle sets in these workouts. That's going to give you some consistency, and you'll also be able to track your progress more easily over time.

For example, if you want to just start out with a 1:40/100 guide (i.e. 300's on 5:00), that works; later on, you could lower it to 1:35/100, then 1:30, etc.

Make sense?

Hey Mike,

Thanks for the quick reply --> I think I was just overthinking it a little bit, I imagine most of us in the sport have that problem. 37 more weeks!

Just a follow up, had a fantastic A race in June -- cut about 13 minutes from the last time I did that race (the swim was about 4-5 minutes shorter -- that's factored into the 13) and then started the program again about half way through, ended up being age-group champ at a very rainy Westchester this fall. Thanks! Plan on using the program again!
